Flexible Linings Overview

Scan-Pac offers a complete line of Woven and Calendared flexible lining material in flat sheet and roll form. Green Gripper Woven (GGW) has become the standard for heavy-duty industrial applications throughout a wide range of industries. In 2009 the company released Gemini woven which was developed for the price conscious customer while maintaining a high level of quality. Scan-Pac is also the leading manufacturer of calendared/sheeter Flexible Woven Materials linings. Calendared/sheeter lining material is strong, tough, smooth and consistent. The company also offers extruded linings as an economical alternative to calendared friction materials.

Flexible Lining Product Offerings

  • Green Gripper Woven (GGW)
  • Gemini Woven
  • 232AF Calendared
  • 242OR Calendared
  • Green Gripper Aramid (GGA) Calendared

Flexible Woven Materials

Scan-Pac offers a complete line of woven friction material in flat sheet, custom sizes, and extensive offering of roll sizes (width & thickness). Scan-Pac’s GGW and Gemini woven materials exhibits a consistent high friction level with a good wear rate and immediate and complete recovery provides superior performance in applications requiring flexible woven products.

  • High static friction
  • Easy to stock rolls of needed widths & thickness
  • Use for relining internal & external flexible full wrap band applications
  • Examples of use: Oil drill rigs, mine winches, mooring winches, elevators

Aramid

Scan-Pac Green Gripper Aramid (GGA) was developed to satisfy requirements for a product in the upper medium friction range, with extremely low abrasion, low rate of wear, and oil resistance. It contains no metal particles. It is available in semi-flexible rolls and in rigid cured shapes, both flat and curved. The standard thickness range is 1/32″ through 3/8″. Where greater thickness is required, it can be laminated using various types of backing stock and can be bonded to metal. With its low abrasion, GGA is currently being used against softer metal discs or drums, like copper alloys used in water cooled applications, resulting in low metal wear. It performs well both wet and dry. GGA is currently being used on magnetic brakes and clutches, tensioning devices, and clutch buttons with great success.

  • Wide thickness range – 1/32″ thru 3/8″
  • Furnished both semi-flexible (uncured) and rigid (cured)
  • Extremely low abrasiveness reduces metal wear
  • Usable in wet and dry applications
  • Good bondability
  • Adequate rivet holding strength
  • Smooth consistent friction
  • Low sensitivity to speed and pressure (stick/slip resistant)
  • Examples of use: Paper mill unwind and rewind stands, overload and slip applications, clutches and brakes, tensioning units

Flexible Calendared

Scan-Pac flexible sheeter products are offered in a variety of materials and are intended for light and medium duty service and where a flexible material is desired or required. All the sheeter materials are strong, tough, smooth and consistent.

  • General purpose materials
  • Medium friction level
  • Good fade resistance
  • Good wear characteristic
  • High tensile strength
  • Good for relining internal or external shoes or bands when rigid arced blocks of correct size are not available
  • Use for flexible full wrap band applications where use of shorter rigid segments is not available
  • Easy to stock rolls of needed width & thickness, then cut to length
  • Examples of use: Crane & shovel bands, overhead crane shoes, punch press brakes, hoisting equipment, farm machinery, antique & classic auto brakes, commercial fishing boats
